Bondi Brushstrokes

Throughout the production and creation of ‘Bondi Brushstrokes’, I underwent the role of editor/backup filmer where I learnt a variety of different skillsets from not only editing but also understanding and gaining experience with unique group dynamics. Throughout my role I made constant updates and changes to the edit, stabilised footage, did general colour grading and created the main storyline and voiceover for the project to aim for the direction we intended to follow. I also filmed some general shots as back-up footage (b-roll and Achilles’ interview) so we had something to fall back on if the group could not get together to film.

Overall, through my roles I learnt the incredible importance of communication with all group members but particularly the director in refining the storyline and message we wished to communicate, including the finer details of music, text and interviews.

A main creative contribution I made towards the group would be filming the Achilles’ interview as it became quite a dominant part within our film, I also believe that the rough cut edit I made alongside the director created a great skeleton for us to build on while we waited for responses from other artists of Bondi. Both contributions I believe created a safety net for us to fall back on alongside provided us (the interview) with a creative perspective that we could take further.
